Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Union government, alleging that the imposition of Hindi has “crossed all limits” after the entrance of the Tiruchirappalli Railway Division office was named “Kartavya Dwar.”
In a statement on social media platform X, Stalin accused the Centre of advancing Hindi under the concept of “one language, three scripts,” claiming that Hindi names are being written in Tamil and English scripts as part of a broader agenda. He cited examples including the naming of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation offices as “Bhavishya Nidhi Bhavan” and the renaming of the Union Ministry of Water Resources as the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The Chief Minister also objected to the use of Sanskrit titles for newly introduced criminal laws and alleged that a similar pattern was followed in renaming the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), widely known as the 100-day employment scheme.
Calling the development an attack on Tamil identity and self-respect, Stalin demanded that Hindi names be removed from central government offices in Tamil Nadu and replaced with proper Tamil names. He warned that failure to comply would result in strong opposition from the people of the state.
