An acute shortage of LPG cylinders has been reported across Odisha, with supply disruptions reportedly linked to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Long queues have formed outside gas agencies as households and businesses struggle to secure cooking gas.

Anacute shortage of LPG cylindershas been reported across several parts of Odisha, causing inconvenience for households and businesses alike. The disruption in supply has reportedly been linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which is affecting the availability of cooking gas.

Residents in multiple districts have reportedlong queues outside gas distribution centres and agenciesas people wait to book or collect LPG cylinders for daily use.

Supply Disruption Across The State

According to reports, LPG supply has beenseverely disrupted, impacting consumers from the state capital Bhubaneswar to other regions across the state.

Consumers are reportedly facing difficulties both inbooking cylinders online and through phone calls, forcing many to visit distribution centres in person.

The shortage has led togrowing dissatisfaction among residents, with many expressing concern about the uncertainty of supply in the coming days.

Concerns Among Businesses

The shortage is also affectingsmall businesses that depend on commercial LPG cylinders, including restaurants, roadside eateries, and hotels.

Business owners fear that if the supply disruption continues,several establishments may be forced to temporarily shut down, which could impact the livelihoods of many workers employed in the sector.

Residents Share Their Difficulties

Residents across the state have expressed frustration over the ongoing situation.

A resident from Sambalpur said theonline booking system and call booking services were not functioning properly, forcing consumers to stand in long queues outside distribution centres simply to register bookings.

Similarly, a street vendor in Balangir said the shortage haddirectly affected his livelihood, as he was unable to operate his shop due to the lack of commercial LPG cylinders.

Another consumer alleged that some distributors weredelaying or refusing bookings, which has further added to public concern.
