Long Queues Outside LPG Distribution Centre in Bhubaneswar Amid Cylinder Delivery Delays

Residents were seen standing in long queues outside an LPG distribution centre in Bhubaneswar as delays in cylinder delivery forced many customers to collect refills personally. Several consumers claimed they had been waiting for weeks despite booking their LPG cylinders.

Long queues were witnessed outside an LPG distribution centre in Bhubaneswar as residents gathered to collect their cooking gas cylinders amid delays in home delivery services.

Customers were seen standing in line since Monday night outside the Lingaraj HP Gas station located in the Khandagiri area, holding their gas passbooks and waiting for their turn to receive LPG cylinders.

According to several beneficiaries, they had booked LPG cylinders nearly 20 to 25 days ago but had not received their deliveries. Many alleged that home delivery services had been halted, forcing them to visit the distribution centre personally to collect their refills.

The delay has caused inconvenience and frustration among consumers. Some residents claimed they had no choice but to purchase cylinders from the black market due to the prolonged waiting period.

One consumer present at the site said he had booked a gas cylinder about 15 days ago and expected delivery within a week. When the cylinder was not delivered, he had to visit the distribution centre to collect it himself.

However, not all customers reported facing difficulties. Some consumers said they were able to receive their cylinders within a short time after booking.

Amid the ongoing situation, concerns about LPG availability have also surfaced among residents, with some linking the issue to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and fearing potential supply disruptions in the future.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government has assured that there is adequate LPG stock available in the state.

The manager of the HP Gas outlet stated that supply to the centre had reduced in recent days, leading to delays in distribution. He also mentioned transportation challenges after one of the drivers met with an accident.

In addition, technical issues related to OTP verification and online payments have further complicated the distribution process. According to the manager, consumers often face difficulties receiving OTPs, which affects payment confirmation and delivery procedures.

He added that authorities have also been instructed to temporarily stop the distribution of commercial gas cylinders.

Sources indicated that the Central government has directed companies to prioritise LPG cylinder production for domestic consumers, which could impact supply to commercial establishments in the coming days.
