In a disturbing incident in Jharsuguda, Odisha, journalists covering a diesel theft near the IOCL depot at Malimunda were attacked and threatened by members of the local oil mafia on Friday. Three reporters were allegedly threatened with knives and other weapons, with attackers reportedly planning to kill them.

The Sadar SDPO and IIC responded promptly, detaining three suspects and seizing a vehicle used by the mafia along with several jars of stolen diesel. Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the criminal operation, raising concerns about the safety of media personnel in the region.
