A health alert was issued on Tuesday at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) in Biswanathpur, Gondia block, Dhenkanal, after a student tested positive for jaundice. A multi-department health team, including the CDMO and public health officials, began screening all students and collecting samples to prevent further spread.
Parents allege more than 15 cases and protested poor sanitation, especially unhygienic toilets, holding the School & Mass Education department responsible. Authorities are conducting a formal inquiry, reviewing water quality, and planning possible sanitation drives, while also monitoring absent students for symptoms.
