A jaundice outbreak has been reported in Ward No. 10 of Cuttack city, affecting more than 20 residents and prompting swift action from civic and health authorities. Five patients are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals, while health teams are conducting door-to-door visits to identify additional cases.
Officials from the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), along with the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, and WATCO representatives, visited the affected area to review the situation. Water and blood samples are being collected to determine the exact cause of the outbreak. Authorities have also begun replacing water pipelines connected to residential houses as a precautionary step.
Residents have raised concerns about the quality of drinking water, alleging that the supplied water appears discoloured and has an unpleasant smell. In response, civic teams are checking chlorine levels in the water supply and spraying bleaching powder in the locality to prevent further spread of the disease.
Authorities have advised residents to boil drinking water, maintain hygiene, and report symptoms immediately. Further action will be taken based on laboratory test results as efforts continue to contain the outbreak.
