A tragic road accident on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Alwar district claimed the life of Jaipur-based industrialist Vallabh Maheshwari (62), the managing director of Shakun Group.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening in the Reni police station area when Maheshwari’s luxury BMW was travelling at high speed near channel number 136.8 on the expressway. According to officials, the vehicle suddenly went out of control and rammed into the wall of a culvert located in the plantation area along the highway.
The collision was extremely severe, leaving the front portion of the BMW completely mangled. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion-like sound at the moment of the crash, which immediately drew several people to the accident spot.
Maheshwari sustained critical injuries in the accident, while the driver reportedly suffered minor injuries. Local residents and rescue teams rushed to the site and worked for several hours to pull the trapped occupants out of the badly damaged vehicle.
Both injured persons were initially taken to a hospital in Pinan for emergency treatment. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, Maheshwari was later referred to a private hospital in Alwar. However, doctors there declared him dead.
Police officials reached the accident site soon after receiving information and began necessary procedures. Maheshwari’s family members were informed, and his relatives later arrived in Alwar. The body was handed over to the family after completion of formalities.
Officials from the expressway patrol team and ambulance services were also present during the rescue operation.
The news of Maheshwari’s sudden death triggered condolences from several political leaders. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over the incident on social media and prayed for strength for the bereaved family. Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and other leaders also conveyed their condolences.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
