As the IPL 2026 retention deadline draws close, speculation aroundRavindra Jadeja’s future has hit its peak. The star all-rounder, long considered the backbone of the Chennai Super Kings, is reportedly on the verge of a blockbuster move to the Rajasthan Royals through a high-profile trade. If finalised, the switch will officially end his long association with CSK—a journey that began in 2012, interrupted only during the franchise’s two-year suspension.

The last few years in Chennai haven’t been entirely smooth for Jadeja. From a brief and turbulent stint as captain to sections of the crowd celebrating his dismissal just to see MS Dhoni walk out to bat, the relationship has shown visible cracks. Now, it appears Jadeja is ready to move on—something Ravi Shastri virtually confirmed on air.

During Jadeja’s first over against South Africa at the Eden Gardens, Harsha Bhogle asked whether the off-field drama was affecting his cricket. Shastri dismissed the concerns, stressing that Jadeja is too seasoned to be distracted.

“All this chatter is mostly from outside,” Shastri remarked. “People are more curious about where he’s headed and what he’ll earn. Jadeja has known his pathway from the start. His mind was clear, and his attention stayed on cricket. Noise is normal in India—he knows what he wants and what’s coming his way. He’s incredibly experienced and a top-class cricketer. Just look at how he performed in England with over 500 runs in the series.”

Jadeja’s anticipated move to Rajasthan will reportedly see Sanju Samson transfer to CSK—a trade Chennai seems ready for, especially after their warm birthday greeting to the Royals captain. With Mumbai Indians already confirming Shardul Thakur’s homecoming, the Jadeja–Samson exchange looks increasingly inevitable and just one announcement away from becoming reality.
