Internet Suspended for 24 Hours in Sundargarh After Group Clash; BNS Section 163 Imposed
Internet services have been suspended in Sundargarh for 24 hours following a clash between two groups on Thursday. The district administration ordered the shutdown from 6 pm as a precautionary measure to prevent further escalation.
Prohibitory Orders and Security Deployment
In view of the tension, prohibitory orders under BNS Section 163 have been imposed. To maintain law and order, 8–10 platoons of police have been deployed in sensitive areas. Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai urged residents to maintain peace and directed the Superintendent of Police to convene a peace committee meeting to resolve the issue amicably.
Details of the Clash
The incident took place at Regent Market, where stone-pelting erupted between two groups, creating a tense situation. Sundargarh ADM Abhimanyu Majhi stated, “The situation is currently under control. Police patrolling has been intensified, and public cooperation is crucial to restore peace.”
Authorities are jointly monitoring the situation, and further investigation into the clash is underway.
