India Emerges as Global Bright Spot as AI Shifts from Hype to Business Value: Tech Mahindra CEO

India is being viewed as one of the world’s strongest growth stories amid global uncertainty, with rising investor confidence, progress on key trade deals, and growing strength in artificial intelligence. Tech Mahindra MD & CEO Mohit Joshi says AI has moved beyond labs to real business implementation, positioning Indian IT firms for sustained global relevance.

India continues to attract global investor confidence despite economic uncertainty worldwide, driven by steady growth, advancing trade negotiations, and strong execution capabilities in artificial intelligence, according to Tech Mahindra Managing Director and CEO Mohit Joshi.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Joshi said India and the Middle East currently stand out as the only clear bright spots for global investors. He pointed to positive momentum around the India-US trade treaty and the anticipated India-EU agreement as key confidence boosters.

Joshi noted that artificial intelligence has entered a new phase, shifting from experimental innovation to large-scale business implementation. Indian IT companies, he said, are uniquely positioned due to their strength in execution—applying complex technologies across enterprises to generate measurable outcomes.

Challenging the outdated view of India as a low-cost back-office hub, Joshi emphasised that modern IT services now require deep industry knowledge across sectors such as telecom, finance, compliance and underwriting. He said India has successfully bridged earlier gaps in domain expertise, making its talent pool invaluable for digital transformation.

While AI is already improving individual productivity, Joshi cautioned that enterprise-level transformation takes time and preparation. Simplifying systems, modernising operations and building unified data structures are essential before companies can fully unlock AI-driven productivity gains.

With sentiment improving across the IT services industry, Joshi said India’s tech sector is well positioned to remain a global partner in the next phase of AI-led and digital transformation.
