Women Stage Rally Demanding Ban on Alcohol Sales in Odisha’s Subarnapur

Hundreds of women from the Dunguripali block in Subarnapur district staged a mass rally on Saturday, demanding a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in their area. The protest was held in response to the continued sale of liquor despite repeated complaints to authorities.

Hundreds of women from the Dunguripali block in Ramapur area of Odisha’s Subarnapur district took out a massive rally on Saturday, demanding an immediate ban on the sale of alcohol in their locality.

Angered by the continued sale of both country-made and foreign liquor, the women marched through the streets of Ramapur, visiting residential areas and shops where alcohol was allegedly being sold. During the rally, they raised awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption and urged shopkeepers to stop liquor sales.

The protesters also went to the local police station and demanded strict action against illegal liquor traders. They alleged that despite repeated complaints, alcohol continues to be sold openly in the area, forcing them to take to the streets.

Expressing frustration over the alleged inaction of authorities, one of the protesters warned that if no concrete steps are taken, the women would approach the Subarnapur district collector to demand enforcement of prohibition measures.

The women have urged the administration to take immediate action to curb illegal liquor sales and enforce existing laws. They stated that the agitation would continue until effective steps are taken to address their demands.
