The festival of colours, Holi, was celebrated with immense joy and unity across Odisha, with people from villages and cities immersing themselves in vibrant festivities. Children, women, and elderly citizens stepped out early in the morning with colours and abir, spreading cheer and strengthening community bonds. Leaders, politicians, and residents joined the celebrations, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the festival.
Traditional processions marked the occasion, with Radha Damodar placed on decorated palanquins and taken around villages before devotees engaged in playing colours. The celebrations highlighted harmony beyond caste, religion, and creed, with revellers exchanging greetings and saying, “Bura na mano, Holi hai,” symbolising goodwill.
Alongside the festivities, experts emphasised safety measures, encouraging the use of organic and herbal colours instead of chemical-based products. Residents were advised to protect their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth while playing Holi and to ensure children avoid harmful substances. Many participants expressed joy in celebrating responsibly without intoxicants while embracing the true spirit of Phagun.
