According to the 2023–24 Religious Landscape Study by Pew Research Centre, Hindus in the United States are the most highly educated religious group, with 70% holding a bachelor’s degree or higher. Jews follow closely at 65%, compared with 35% of US adults overall.
The study highlights that Muslims, Buddhists, and Orthodox Christians also surpass the national average for higher education, while Evangelical Protestants, Catholics, and members of historically Black Protestant churches fall below it. Immigration and demographic trends, particularly among Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist communities, contribute to these educational disparities.
The RLS survey included 36,908 respondents and is considered one of the most comprehensive studies of religion and public life in the US.
