It was an inconsolable shock. For a month, we struggled as he battled illness. We were constantly trying to cope with whatever was happening in the hospital," she said, revealing not just grief, but the exhaustion of weeks of uncertainty and silent prayers.
Family United in Hope and HeartbreakHema recalled how the entire family remained together through the crisis. "We were all there—I, Esha, Ahana, Sunny, Bobby—all together. In the past, there were times when he went to the hospital and came back fine. We thought this time would be the same."
Unfulfilled CelebrationsReflecting on their last interactions, she shared, "He was talking to us nicely. On my birthday (October 16), he even wished me. His 90th birthday was approaching on December 8, and we were planning to celebrate it. Then suddenly, he was not there. To see him decline personally was very difficult—nobody should have to go through that."
Preserving Memories Amid AbsenceHema spoke about the importance of keeping Dharmendra alive in their hearts. "Time spares no one, yet we miss him every moment. It is important to preserve him in our memories." She also lamented the media scrutiny during his illness, noting, "Sunny was upset and angry. We all were going through an emotional time, and the media was constantly chasing us… the harassment was immense."
