The Health Department on Monday raided an alleged illegal clinic operating in the Birmaharajpur sub-divisional headquarters area of Sonepur district. The action was carried out at Sandhya Medicine Store following specific inputs about unlawful medical activities reportedly being conducted from the premises.
During the inspection, health officials seized a stock of medicines and various clinic-related instruments suspected to have been used for unauthorised treatment. While the exact quantity of the seized materials has not been disclosed, authorities confirmed that the items have been taken into custody for further verification and examination.
The District Health Officer stated that preliminary evidence suggesting clinical activities were being conducted illegally at the shop was found during the raid. The operation forms part of a broader crackdown on unauthorised healthcare establishments in the region.
However, Sandhya Medicine Store owner Pratish Ray has denied the charges. He refuted claims that an illegal clinic was being run from the premises.
Ray asserted that officials conducted a detailed search of the store and maintained that only medicines were present. He claimed that no unlawful clinical activities were being carried out at the establishment.
