Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda has spoken about a frightening incident at his Mumbai residence, where more than 20 individuals tried to enter his home late at night. The 62-year-old actor explained that he used his licensed firearm to confront the intruders and ensure they left safely.
In an interview with ANI, Govinda described noticing 22–23 people approaching his house. “I first thought they were here for a party, but they didn’t seem like party people. So I captured their video,” he said. Despite attempting to contact the Mumbai Police, there was no immediate response, prompting him to reach out to foreign contacts to stay on the line during the incident.
The situation escalated when one individual climbed onto the terrace. Govinda confronted the group, asking, “Who are you?” When one man claimed they were there to “fix the power system,” Govinda remained unsatisfied and pointed his gun, prompting the group to disperse.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Govinda emphasized that he did not investigate the intruders’ identities further. “That’s a waste of time. People divert their energy into thinking about all that,” he said, highlighting that actors should focus on their work rather than reacting to every situation.
His manager, Shashi Sinha, had earlier revealed that an FIR was filed and a video of the incident exists. Sinha also noted, “Thank god he had a gun with him that day. He chased everyone away. Otherwise, god knows what would’ve happened to him.”
This is not Govinda’s first gun-related scare; in October 2024, the actor was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the foot while cleaning his firearm. Authorities have not confirmed any connection between that incident and this latest confrontation.
