The renewed probe into the mysterious disappearance of businessman Balaram Sahu has brought the 2019 missing case back into focus, raising hopes of a possible breakthrough.

Seven years after the mysterious disappearance of businessman Balaram Sahu, Odisha Police have reopened the case and stepped up the investigation to unravel one of the state’s most perplexing unresolved incidents. The renewed probe has once again brought the 2019 missing case into focus, raising expectations of a possible breakthrough.

Girlfriend Taken on Police RemandAs part of the intensified investigation, Balaram’s girlfriend, Rashmita Swain, has been taken on police remand from Jharpada jail and is being questioned for the second consecutive day. Police sources said several important leads have emerged during the interrogation. Investigators suspect that Balaram may have been abducted and that Rashmita could have been directly or indirectly involved in the incident.

Police have also found indications that the case may be linked to illegal narcotics activities. According to investigators, both Balaram and Rashmita were allegedly connected to ganja trafficking, and a dispute related to the drug trade is being probed as a possible motive behind the businessman’s disappearance.

Police Confirm Multiple Angles of InvestigationBhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagamohan Meena said the case is being examined from all possible angles. “This is a long-pending case that has now been taken up for review. Family members and witnesses have been examined, and suspects have been detained, arrested, and placed on remand. The investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Key Questions RemainDespite claims of crucial inputs, investigators are yet to establish what happened to Balaram after the alleged abduction, where he was taken, and whether he is alive. Police are also examining the possibility of the involvement of a larger network.

Balaram Sahu went missing under mysterious circumstances in 2019, and his family has since received no information about his whereabouts. Although several probes were conducted over the years, the case had gone cold until recent developments revived hope for answers.

More Revelations ExpectedRashmita Swain was arrested from Ganjam district around 15 days ago, prompting police to reopen the case in detail. Officials said the probe is continuing on multiple fronts, and more revelations are expected in the coming days.
