A dramatic scene unfolded outside the Digapahandi police station in Odisha’s Ganjam district after an allegedly drunk youth created a ruckus and verbally abused police personnel on Monday.
According to reports, the youth reached the area near the police station in an intoxicated condition and soon began arguing with officers who were on duty. Despite repeated attempts by the police to calm him down and defuse the situation, the youth reportedly continued to behave aggressively and refused to cooperate.
Eyewitnesses said the confrontation quickly attracted the attention of local residents and passersby, leading to a brief commotion outside the police station premises. People gathered around as the argument between the youth and the police escalated, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
Meanwhile, a video of the incident surfaced on social media platforms and soon went viral. The footage allegedly shows the intoxicated youth confronting police personnel and engaging in heated exchanges outside the station. The viral clip has triggered widespread reactions online, with many users expressing concern over such behaviour in public places.
Local residents and observers have also raised concerns over the incident, stating that such actions reflect a growing disregard for law enforcement authorities. They emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and respecting officials responsible for maintaining law and order.
Police officials later confirmed that the situation was eventually brought under control without any major escalation. The youth was reportedly pacified, and normalcy was restored in the area.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and maintain decorum, particularly in sensitive areas such as police stations, to avoid unnecessary disturbances.
