Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday gave a cryptic response about his meeting with top Congress leaders in Delhi, saying, “time will answer everything,” amid speculation of a possible leadership change in the state. Shivakumar emphasized that all 140 Congress MLAs, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, continue to support him.
Speaking to reporters, he declined to reveal details of discussions held in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and the party high command, saying, “I cannot discuss all that openly with the media. There is a time for everything.” His remarks come amid persistent rumours of a rotational CM arrangement, which both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have consistently denied. Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, have also stressed there is no internal confusion and urged leaders not to claim individual credit for the party’s electoral success.
The leadership speculation revolves around an alleged informal agreement for Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to share the Chief Minister’s post midway through the term. However, Congress has reiterated that Siddaramaiah will complete his full five-year tenure, dismissing any claims of a power-sharing deal or internal discord.
