Actor Hrithik Roshan is set to reprise his role in the sequel to his 2017 action-thriller Kaabil. Director Sanjay Gupta confirmed the much-anticipated follow-up through a reply on X (formerly Twitter), putting an end to years of speculation surrounding Kaabil 2.
The confirmation came after a fan praised Kaabil as one of the finest revenge thrillers and questioned when the sequel would finally be made. Reacting to the post, Gupta replied emphatically, declaring that the sequel is ready to move ahead and teasing that it will be “far deadlier” this time around.
Released in 2017, Kaabil featured Hrithik Roshan as a blind dubbing artist whose life is shattered after his wife, played by Yami Gautam, becomes the victim of a brutal crime. The film followed his transformation into a calculated vigilante, using his visual impairment as an unexpected advantage while seeking justice. The intense narrative and Hrithik’s restrained performance earned the film a strong fan following.
The original film was produced by Rakesh Roshan and featured a strong supporting cast including Ronit Roy, Rohit Roy, Girish Kulkarni and Suresh Menon.
While details about the plot and cast of Kaabil 2 remain under wraps, Gupta’s assurance suggests a darker and more intense narrative than the first installment. Fans are particularly eager to see how the sequel builds on the moral complexity and emotional weight that defined the original.
Hrithik Roshan, who recently turned 52 on January 10, 2026, was last seen on the big screen in War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. He is also collaborating with Hombale Films on an upcoming, yet-to-be-announced project.
With Kaabil 2 now officially in motion, the announcement has reignited excitement among fans of gritty Bollywood thrillers, who are keen to see Hrithik Roshan return to one of his most intense and unconventional roles.
