In a major political development, Delhi Police arrested Indian Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the shirtless protest held during the AI Impact Summit. He was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after nearly 20 hours of questioning.

Police have charged him with criminal conspiracy, obstructing a public servant, voluntarily causing harm, and wilful disobedience. According to investigators, Chib is the eighth person arrested in the case, and authorities suspect his involvement in planning the protest, which included slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Police informed the court that protesters from multiple states were involved and that custodial interrogation was necessary to confront him with other accused and examine digital evidence. However, Chib’s lawyer denied the allegations, stating he was not present at the protest site and had no role in organising the demonstration.

The arrest has intensified political tensions, with Congress leaders defending the protest as democratic, while Union Minister Giriraj Singh criticised the opposition and targeted Rahul Gandhi. Meanwhile, police are also investigating funding sources and possible larger links behind the protest.
