Bhadareswar Police in Cuttack district busted a notorious dacoity gang and arrested five members involved in multiple robberies across Odisha. The accused have been identified as Bikash Das, Subrata Das, Chittaranjan Das and Bichitrananda Kundu from Derabish, and Gopinath Das from Jajpur.
According to police, the gang disguised themselves as pig herders, beggars and snake charmers during the day to move around villages without suspicion. They identified isolated houses, especially those occupied by elderly residents and created detailed plans for robbery.
At night, the gang carried out violent dacoities, looting cash and valuables worth lakhs and attacking anyone who resisted. Police seized 61 grams of gold ornaments, 386 grams of silver, four mobile phones, an iron rod and a shovel from their possession.
Salipur SDPO Biranchi Narayan Pati said the accused had several criminal cases pending and further investigation is underway.
