Armed Robber Fires Blank Shots, Loots Cuttack Trader at Gunpoint
In a brazen robbery on Thursday morning, a trader in Cuttack was looted at gunpoint by a miscreant.
According to reports, the incident occurred at a brass utensil shop in the Jaunlia Patti area. The accused fired blank shots to create panic before fleeing with cash from the shop.
The robbery took place around 8 am when the suspect arrived on a scooter. He allegedly threatened the shop owner, Upendra Maharana, with a firearm, fired blanks to intimidate him, and made away with the cash.
Following the incident, Maharana lodged a complaint at the Purighat police station. Police have registered a case and are investigating, reviewing all CCTV footage from the area.
“My father owns a brass utensil shop. When he opened it this morning, a person in a black jacket arrived on an Activa scooter, posing as a customer. Suddenly, he pulled out a revolver,” said Ayush Moharana, the trader’s son.
