Cold Wave Eases as Night Temperatures Rise Across Odisha

After days of biting cold, severe winter conditions have eased across the state, bringing much-needed relief to residents. The intensity of the cold wave reduced from last night following a noticeable rise in temperatures.

People had been grappling with harsh cold weather over the past several days. However, a gradual increase in the mercury since late last night has led to milder conditions, easing the bone-chilling chill.

The Meteorological Department said the change was expected due to the influence of an active deep depression system. Upper-level cloud cover linked to this system had earlier caused temperature fluctuations, and officials had predicted a moderation in the cold spell.

Weather experts added that an inflow of moisture-laden winds into the state played a key role in pushing temperatures upward, weakening the cold wave that had prevailed in recent days.

According to the latest forecast, dry weather is likely to continue across the state until January 16. No significant rainfall is expected, and temperatures are forecast to remain stable, ensuring continued relief from extreme cold.

However, authorities have advised people to remain cautious during early morning and late night hours, as mild winter conditions may still persist in some areas despite the overall easing of the cold.
