3 Doors Down Lead Singer Brad Arnold Dies at 47 After Battle With Stage 4 Kidney Cancer

Brad Arnold, the lead singer and founding member of Grammy-nominated rock band 3 Doors Down, has died at the age of 47 following a battle with Stage 4 kidney cancer. The band confirmed that Arnold passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones. Best known for hits like Kryptonite and When I’m Gone, Arnold played a pivotal role in shaping mainstream rock music in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Brad Arnold, lead vocalist of the popular rock band 3 Doors Down, passed away on Saturday at the age of 47, months after publicly revealing his diagnosis of Stage 4 kidney cancer. In a statement, the band said Arnold died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family and loved ones, following a courageous battle with the disease.

Formed in Mississippi in 1995, 3 Doors Down rose to fame with their breakout single Kryptonite, which earned them a Grammy nomination in 2000. Arnold famously wrote the song at the age of 15 while still in school. Their debut album The Better Life went on to sell more than six million copies, cementing the band’s place in mainstream rock.

The group earned a second Grammy nomination in 2003 for When I’m Gone and released six studio albums during their career, with Us And The Night arriving in 2016. Other well-known singles included Loser, Duck and Run, and Be Like That, which featured in the soundtrack of American Pie 2.

Arnold announced his cancer diagnosis in May last year, revealing that clear cell renal carcinoma had spread to his lungs, forcing the band to cancel their summer tour. Remembering him, the band said his music created lasting connections and moments of joy that will continue to resonate long after his passing.
