The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Sunday detailed the reasons behind Arvind Mohapatra’s suspension, saying the party had been monitoring his activities through internal reports for the past 22 months.
Party leaders alleged that Mohapatra betrayed the organisation soon after receiving the party ticket, working against its interests. They accused him and his father, Bijoy Mohapatra, of treating Patkura as a “father-son party unit” and conspiring to undermine the party’s parliamentary candidate. The BJD also claimed he avoided using the party symbol and the photograph of party chief Naveen Patnaik at public events.
Additional allegations include removing BJD workers from panchayat-level posts and replacing them with his own supporters, mirroring actions previously attributed to his father. BJD leader Amaresh Patri said Mohapatra had betrayed both the party and the people of Patkura constituency.
Responding, Arvind Mohapatra dismissed the claims, accusing the BJD of making daily allegations. He stated he is ready to address all charges and plans to meet party chief Naveen Patnaik to present his side.
