Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the launch of the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme to support families covered under the National Food Security Act. The scheme will benefit around 40 lakh families by providing essential food kits to improve nutrition, especially among children from economically weaker sections.
Under the initiative, each family will receive food kits containing two kilograms of pulses, two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram of iodised salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder, and one litre of mustard oil. These kits will be distributed every three months, with the first phase scheduled to begin in April.
The Chief Minister said the decision was taken after the government found that many children were not getting proper nutrition despite existing food support. The scheme will be implemented through Markfed and the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, with strict monitoring to ensure quality.
The government said the scheme reflects its commitment to ensuring food security, improving health, and supporting poor families across Punjab.
