Bhadrak Police Bust Notorious Loot Gang; 4 Arrested, Gold and Silver Worth Crores Seized

Bhadrak Police arrested four members of an inter-district criminal gang involved in robbery, murder, and dacoity cases. Over 1 kg of gold, 4 kg of silver ornaments, and more than 15 fake vehicle number plates were seized. Two accused managed to escape, and further investigation is underway.

In a major breakthrough, Bhadrak Police have cracked down on a notorious gang allegedly involved in multiple serious crimes, including robbery, murder, and dacoity. The gang was reportedly targeting retired government employees and elderly individuals, breaking into houses by damaging windows and carrying out well-planned loot operations.

Over the past few days, several incidents of house break-ins had been reported from different parts of Bhadrak district. Following complaints, the Superintendent of Police (SP) formed a special investigation team comprising officers from various police stations to trace those responsible. The team closely examined the unique pattern of the crimes before launching targeted operations.

During the investigation, police arrested four accused from the Kendrapara area, while two others managed to flee and are currently absconding. According to police sources, the arrested individuals were previously involved in theft, murder, and dacoity cases, with more than 15 cases registered against them across the state.

From the possession of the accused, police seized more than 1 kilogram of gold ornaments and over 4 kilograms of silver jewellery. Additionally, more than 15 fake vehicle number plates belonging to vehicles from Odisha and other states were recovered. Police suspect that these fake number plates were used to avoid identification and may indicate the gang’s involvement in crimes outside the state as well.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the gang specifically targeted retired government employees and senior citizens, believing them to be vulnerable and in possession of valuables. Authorities are continuing efforts to trace the absconding accused and determine the full extent of the gang’s criminal network.
