Serious allegations of a Rs 1.5 crore financial scam have emerged at Baiganbadia Post Office in Odisha’s Balasore district, with hundreds of depositors accusing a postmaster of siphoning off their life savings from multiple postal schemes.

Serious allegations of large-scale financial irregularities have surfaced at Baiganbadia Post Office under the jurisdiction of Jaleswar police station in Odisha’s Balasore district, triggering panic and distress among hundreds of depositors. An amount exceeding Rs 1.5 crore is alleged to have been misappropriated from various post office savings schemes.Responding to the allegations, Binay Kumar Patra, Postmaster of Dahamunda Post Office, said he had joined only recently and was unaware of the previous transactions. He added that complaints raised by depositors are being forwarded to senior officials for necessary action, and assured that those affected should get their money back after an inquiry.Officials said further action will be initiated after a detailed investigation into the alleged scam.
