Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi Return to Pakistan Squad for Australia T20 Series

Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi have rejoined Pakistan’s 16-member squad for the three-match T20 series against Australia starting January 29. Both players missed the Sri Lanka series due to BBL commitments and injury concerns but will now prepare for the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan has named its squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Australia, with captain Salman Ali Agha leading a 16-member team. Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi return after missing the Sri Lanka tour, where Babar played for Sydney Sixers and Shaheen for Brisbane Heat. Shaheen had an early exit from the BBL due to a knee ligament injury, taking four wickets in four matches at an economy of 11.19, while Babar scored 202 runs in 11 games with a strike rate of 103.06. Despite their mixed BBL campaigns, both are expected to bolster Pakistan’s preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup. The squad includes a mix of experienced players like Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, and Naseem Shah, as well as young talents such as Khawaja Nafay, Usman Tariq, and Mohammad Salman Mirza. Haris Rauf, the leading wicket-taker in BBL, is notably absent from the series selection.
