An incident involving an apparent violation of temple protocol was reported at the Puri Srimandir early Saturday morning after a pair of shoes was found near the Bhoga Mandap gate inside the temple premises, where entry with footwear is strictly prohibited.
According to sources, an unidentified person allegedly entered the temple premises wearing shoes, walked up to the Bhoga Mandap gate, and left the footwear there before fleeing. The identity of the individual could not be ascertained at the time of reporting.
The incident came to light after Pratihari servitors noticed the shoes during routine duties and began efforts to trace the person responsible. Later in the morning, an elderly servitor was seen exiting through the Singhadwar carrying a pair of boots. He confirmed that the footwear had been recovered from inside the temple.
The servitor stated that the shoes were found near the Bhoga Mandap area and were subsequently removed from the premises to maintain sanctity. He added that it was unclear how the individual managed to enter the temple wearing footwear.
The incident has sparked concerns regarding security arrangements and vigilance inside the Srimandir. No official statement or clarification on further action had been issued by temple authorities or the administration at the time of reporting.
