Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel has responded to reports of a non-bailable warrant issued against her by the Moradabad ACJM-5 court in connection with a 2017 event-related dispute. The court issued the warrant after Patel failed to appear for a scheduled hearing, directing her to appear on March 27.
The case dates back to 2017 when event manager Pawan Verma alleged that Ameesha charged Rs 11 lakh to attend a wedding in Moradabad but did not show up despite receiving the payment. The complaint claimed that the actor demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh upon arrival in Delhi and then returned to Mumbai when the amount was refused. Verma subsequently filed a case under sections 120-B, 406, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Ameesha Patel clarified that the matter is nearly 15 years old and had been previously settled, with Verma receiving the agreed amount. She described the ongoing proceedings as “false allegations” and stated that her lawyers are initiating criminal proceedings against Verma for cheating. Patel emphasized that she prefers to focus on her professional work rather than the public spectacle surrounding the issue.
This development comes after Patel had previously appeared in court and secured bail nearly two years ago, but alleged non-compliance with bail conditions reportedly led to the issuance of the new warrant.
