Former India cricketer Varun Aaron has warned that Aiden Markram could pose the biggest challenge to India in their Super 8 clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The high-stakes encounter is scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Markram, who is leading South Africa, has been in exceptional form, scoring 178 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 187.36. Aaron believes his strong technique makes him capable of handling India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has been highly effective with the new ball.
Aaron also suggested a tactical change, recommending the inclusion of Washington Sundar in place of Kuldeep Yadav. He explained that Sundar’s off-spin could be crucial against South Africa’s left-handed batters like Quinton de Kock, Marco Jansen, Ryan Rickelton, and David Miller, especially on Ahmedabad’s spin-friendly black-soil pitch.
