Kalyanram Nandamuri, grandson of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), visited NTR Ghat in Hyderabad early on Sunday, January 18, to pay tribute on the anniversary of his grandfather’s death. Despite the solemn occasion and the early hour, large numbers of fans gathered at the memorial, surrounding the actor and seeking selfies as he offered his respects. The turnout once again highlighted the enduring emotional connection the public shares with the Nandamuri family and its legacy.
Jr NTR’s brother Kalyanram arrived at the ghat before sunrise, accompanied by his cousin, politician Nara Lokesh, who also paid homage around the same time. Videos from the visit show the actor being closely surrounded by admirers, reflecting sustained public interest in the family across cinema and politics. The presence of Nara Lokesh further underscored the significance of the occasion, drawing supporters from both spheres.
Footage from the memorial shows Kalyanram’s security team struggling to control the crowd as he prayed and placed a wreath at the site. Security personnel were seen urging people to step back while fans pushed forward to capture photographs, making it difficult for the actor to find a quiet moment of reflection. In another video, Kalyanram is seen requesting people to give him space as he sat down to pay his respects, even as security continued to manage the surging crowd.
Several prominent members of the Nandamuri family, including Nandamuri Balakrishna, Jr NTR and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, were expected to visit NTR Ghat later in the day or attend commemorative events at Film Nagar. Their participation highlights the continuing cultural and political significance of NTR’s legacy.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao passed away on January 18, 1996, at the age of 72. Every year, family members and admirers gather to commemorate his immense contributions to Indian cinema and politics, reaffirming the lasting influence he continues to wield decades after his death.
On the work front, Kalyanram was last seen in Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi (2025) alongside Vijayashanti and Sohail Khan, and is yet to announce his next project. Jr NTR was recently seen in Devara: Part 1 (2024), produced by Kalyanram, and made his Bollywood debut in War 2 (2025). He is currently working on a film directed by Prashanth Neel. Meanwhile, Balakrishna, last seen in Akhanda 2 (2025), will next appear in a film directed by Gopichand Malineni.
