Actor Haley Lu Richardson has opened up about her experiences with gender bias in Hollywood, revealing how deeply ingrained misogyny continues to shape women’s experiences in the entertainment industry. Speaking to HT City, Richardson said that while work environments vary, moments of bias still serve as reminders that inequality remains widespread.

Richardson explained that the disparity became especially clear through her interactions with male actors and professionals in the industry, noting that men often remain unaware of the challenges women routinely face. She recalled instances where male colleagues expressed surprise that gender bias was still an issue, highlighting the gap in lived experiences.

In contrast, Richardson described her time working with Emilia Clarke on the buddy spy thrillerPoniesas uniquely supportive. Praising Clarke, she said the actor made her feel safer and more comfortable than ever before on a set. Richardson shared that their bond created a calm and reassuring environment, where even moments of quiet support helped both actors cope with the demands of filming.

Poniesstars Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson as two American embassy secretaries in Moscow who are drawn into the world of espionage after the mysterious deaths of their CIA-agent husbands. The series is currently streaming on JioHotstar.
