Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Short explained how he accidentally cut into the couple’s main wedding cake due to a simple misunderstanding.
Short described the venue as having a large tent with a dance floor and lounge-style seating at the back. A small wedding cake placed near his table led him to believe multiple cakes were arranged for different sections. Wanting to offer a slice to fellow actor Steve Martin, Short began cutting the cake, only to realize it was the main wedding cake. Guests quickly alerted him, and the chef managed to repair the mishap, joking that the cake had become a true “Hollywood wedding cake.”
The actor later laughed about the incident with Paul Rudd, reflecting on the lighthearted chaos of celebrity weddings. Despite the mix-up, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding remained a “perfect” celebration, with the cake mishap becoming a memorable anecdote from the star-studded event.
