Aasif Sheikh has lauded Dhurandhar for opening new doors for actors from the television industry, calling the film a “big breakthrough” for talent often restricted by labels. Speaking in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actor highlighted how the success of Dhurandhar proves that television actors can convincingly deliver varied and impactful performances on the big screen.
Sheikh pointed out that performers like Saumya Tandon, Rakesh Bedi and Gaurav Gera played distinct and meaningful characters in the film, challenging the notion that TV actors are limited in range. He noted that while earlier there was a clear divide between television and film actors—and even today such bias exists in the OTT space—Dhurandhar has helped weaken that perception.
Emphasising the work ethic of television artistes, Sheikh said TV actors are often more disciplined, committed and sincere because of the demanding nature of daily soaps. According to him, finishing work on time and never compromising on performance becomes an unspoken rule for those shaped by television.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari, alongside a strong ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal. The film also marked the debut of Sara Arjun opposite Ranveer Singh.
Released theatrically on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar has been widely discussed not just for its box office success, but also for spotlighting the depth and versatility of television actors in mainstream cinema.
