Months after Faissal publicly accused his family of “imprisoning” him under the guise of medical treatment, Aamir addressed the controversy in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Choosing restraint over rebuttal, he said:
“Kya karein? That is my destiny. You can fight the world, but how can you fight your own family?”
The response reflected emotional exhaustion rather than confrontation, underscoring how personal the issue remains for the actor.
Family’s official stand
When Faissal made the allegations in August 2025, the Khan family released a statement calling the claims hurtful. They asserted that all decisions regarding Faissal were taken collectively, based strictly on medical advice, and with his wellbeing as the sole priority.
Mela and lingering wounds
The dispute has also reignited discussion around Mela, which Aamir produced to relaunch Faissal’s career after Madhosh (1994). Reflecting on the film years later, Aamir admitted its failure affected him deeply, saying the disappointment was shared by the entire team and not just his brother.
Coming after the massive success of Raja Hindustani, expectations from Mela were enormous. However, delays, creative disagreements and comparisons with classics like Sholay weighed the film down. Director Dharmesh Darshan and Faissal later blamed Aamir’s alleged interference for its failure, a charge Aamir has never directly accepted.
A family dispute that endures
While Aamir maintains that his involvement was driven by a desire to help his younger brother succeed, Faissal has consistently claimed the opposite — alleging career sabotage and loss of personal freedom. Decades later, Mela remains inseparable from this unresolved family rift, symbolising one of Bollywood’s most painful and public sibling disputes.
