UP Principal’s Bizarre Remark Shocks Students During Confrontation

A college principal in Uttar Pradesh triggered widespread outrage after making controversial remarks during a meeting with students. The incident in Sambhal district has reignited debate over student union elections and campus administration.

A video of a college principal making objectionable remarks about “misdeeds” in front of students has sparked widespread outrage across Uttar Pradesh, after the clip went viral on social media and drew strong reactions.

The incident took place in Sambhal district’s SM Degree College, Chandausi, where students had gathered to submit a memorandum demanding student union elections and raise issues related to campus administration, including parking fees. During the interaction, principal Danveer Singh was recorded making comments that many students and viewers described as insensitive and inappropriate.

In the video, as students presented their demands, the principal is heard speaking about his personality, saying he is open and straightforward. He then made a controversial statement suggesting that people usually commit misdeeds secretly, while claiming he speaks openly and frankly, a remark that triggered sharp criticism.

The clip also shows the principal making remarks about Chandausi, calling it a town with a “small mindset,” and commenting on restrictions related to students’ socialising. He said that while he did not stop students of his own college from roaming around, he objected to interactions with outsiders, stressing that students should maintain limits and dignity.

The controversy gained further attention as Chandausi is the home constituency of Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Secondary Education, Gulabo Devi, who is also the local MLA. Following the backlash, the principal issued an oral clarification, stating that his remarks were taken out of context and that by “misdeeds” he meant bad actions in a general sense.

However, despite the clarification, student anger remains high, with demands growing for action against the principal and an official inquiry into the incident.
