5 Maoists Killed in Encounter Near Malkangiri–Chhattisgarh Border; Search Operation Continues

In a major anti-Maoist operation, security forces engaged in an encounter with Maoists in the Keregutta forest area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, near the Malkangiri border. According to reports, the operation was launched after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of Maoists hiding in the dense forest region.

Following the tip-off, security personnel along with local police initiated a combing operation. During the operation, a prolonged exchange of fire took place between the security forces and Maoists. After the firing subsided, security teams recovered the bodies of five Maoists from the spot, indicating that they were killed in the encounter.

Officials said the remaining Maoists fled into the forest, and security forces have intensified search and combing operations in the area. Reports suggest that firing and search activities are still ongoing as forces continue efforts to secure the region.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of more Maoists being present in the area, and operations are being carried out with heightened vigilance.
