At least 18 children reportedly fell ill after consuming ice cream during a religious event, ‘Ashta Prahari’, at Kumusar village under the Banki block in Cuttack district on Monday.According to sources, the children had consumed ice cream purchased from a local vendor who had set up a stall at the event. Soon after eating the ice cream, several children complained of severe infection and irritation in their mouths, triggering panic among villagers and event organizers.The incident has raised serious concerns over the operation of several illegal ice-cream manufacturing units in the area. Authorities are expected to conduct further inspections and investigations to assess food safety standards and prevent similar incidents in the future.
