The Odisha Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment process has once again hit a roadblock, leaving thousands of aspirants frustrated and uncertain. The examination has been cancelled twice, and despite repeated demands, no official notification or clarification has been issued so far.
According to reports, aspirants have warned that if the government fails to issue a fresh notification on SI recruitment by January 26, they will resume protests across the state. This time, candidates have indicated that the agitation will not be limited to Bhubaneswar but will be held statewide.
Earlier, aspirants had staged a demonstration outside the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) office in Bhubaneswar on November 15. The protest was later withdrawn after assurances were reportedly given by the authorities that the recruitment process would be completed within a stipulated timeframe.
However, candidates allege that no progress has been made since then. Meanwhile, a CBI investigation into irregularities related to the SI recruitment process is currently underway.
Expressing dissatisfaction, an aspirant from Baripada said that despite years of preparation for the written and physical tests, neither the recruitment board nor the Home Department has provided any clarity on the examination schedule. She added that around 1.5 lakh candidates are awaiting updates and warned that protests would intensify if the government fails to act by the January 26 deadline.
