Two Juveniles Escape from Angul Observation Home; Police Launch Manhunt

Two juvenile inmates escaped from a special observation home in Odisha’s Angul district by allegedly squeezing through a drain opening. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the minors, while security arrangements at the facility are under review.

Two juveniles reportedly escaped from a special observation home in Angul district, triggering a search operation by local police. According to sources, the minors managed to flee by squeezing through a drain opening while other children were playing inside the premises.

The incident is believed to have occurred on February 14 between 4 pm and 5 pm but came to light after staff found the two inmates missing. One of the escaped juveniles is said to be from Balasore district, while the other is from Cuttack district.

Following the escape, authorities conducted searches in and around the observation home but could not locate the minors. A complaint was later lodged by the counsellor of the facility, and police registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace them.

Officials have also begun reviewing security arrangements at the observation home to prevent similar incidents in the future. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
