In a major boost to infrastructure development in Odisha’s capital region, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has granted environmental clearance to the Rameswar–Tangi Ring Road project. The Centre has also approved wildlife clearance for the crucial Gobindpur–Tangi stretch (CRR-2), removing a long-pending obstacle for the ambitious Capital Region Ring Road (CRR) project. The Capital Region Ring Road project envisages the construction of a 110-kilometre-long, six-lane, access-controlled greenfield highway connecting Rameswar to Tangi. Once operational, the corridor will bypass major urban centres including Khordha, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, significantly reducing travel time and improving logistics efficiency across the region.
