The State Private Bus Owners’ Association has said it will take a final decision on Saturday regarding its proposed statewide strike against Mukhyamantri Bus Seva (MBS) operations to district headquarters. Association leaders stated that discussions with the state government during the last meeting were largely positive, but the strike call remains in place for now.
General secretary Debendra Kumar Sahu said that disputes over route overlaps have been resolved in most districts. However, Jagatsinghpur district remains a point of contention, preventing the association from withdrawing the strike notice. Private operators allege that MBS routes clash with existing private bus services, leading to significant financial losses.
Sahu said the government has empowered district collectors to resolve route-related disputes through committees comprising officials from transport departments and local bus associations. While most collectors have cooperated, the association claimed that no resolution has been reached in Jagatsinghpur. The association warned that if the issue is not addressed, private buses may stop plying from Sunday morning.
