Officials of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) conducted simultaneous raids on the residence and business premises of Angul-based businessman Sunil Agrawal on Tuesday. A 12-member DGGI team has been examining financial records, transaction details, and other documents as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged large-scale GST evasion.
The raids, which have been continuing for over eight hours, have reportedly resulted in the seizure of several important documents. DGGI officials have not commented publicly as the operation is still underway.
This comes after a similar probe in November, when Mumbai-based chartered accountant Nilesh Yogesh Jigiowala was interrogated at Bhubaneswar’s high-security Jharpada Jail in connection with an alleged GST fraud worth nearly Rs 325 crore.
