Delhi HC to Hear Chinese AI Platform’s Plea Challenging Salman Khan Personality Rights Injunction

The dispute began after the Delhi High Court previously issued an injunction to protect Salman Khan's personality rights, prohibiting the unauthorised use of his name, photographs, voice, or likeness by third parties.

New Delhi:The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear an application filed by aChinese AI voice platformchallenging an existing injunction protectingSalman Khan’s personality rights. The injunction prohibits the unauthorised use of Khan’s name, likeness, photographs, or voice by third parties.

During Wednesday’s hearing,Justice Jyoti Singhissued a notice to Salman Khan and gave him four weeks to submit his reply. The matter is scheduled for a further hearing onFebruary 27, 2026.

The AI platform argued that its AI-generated content is clearly disclosed and requested the court to lift the injunction to continue its operations. This case is the first in India where an AI technology company has sought to challenge a personality rights ruling.

Salman Khan’s legal team has highlighted ongoing violations, including misleading content, fake news, and unauthorised commercial exploitation of his identity by digital platforms, e-commerce sites, and AI tools.

The case underscores a growing legal trend in India wherecelebrities seek protection against misuse of their identityin the digital era. Its outcome could significantly influence how Indian courts balancetechnological innovation with individual personality rights.
