Al Falah University Chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui Arrested by Delhi Police Crime Branch

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of Al Falah University, over alleged irregularities and fraud following complaints by the University Grants Commission. The arrest comes days after action by the Enforcement Directorate, with investigations now underway into financial and administrative violations.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of Al Falah University, in connection with alleged irregularities and falsification of records. The arrest follows complaints filed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), based on which two FIRs were registered against Siddiqui for fraud and related offences.

Siddiqui was produced before a Delhi court, which granted the Crime Branch four days of police custody for further investigation. Officials said the probe is linked to alleged administrative and financial misconduct, with more details expected to emerge during questioning.

The university had previously come under national scrutiny after it was revealed that Dr Umar Nabi, convicted in the Red Fort blast case that killed 13 people, was employed at the institution. Two other individuals, Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Shaheen Shahid, allegedly linked to a “white-collar” terror network, were also found to have worked at the university.

In November, the university’s website was taken offline following a show-cause notice issued by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council over an alleged false accreditation claim. The Enforcement Directorate has stated that it will examine the university’s funding sources and financial transactions linked to its medical staff.
