Security was heightened at the Cuttack District Judge’s Court on Thursday after an email threatened to blow up the premises. The court was immediately evacuated, and police, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, carried out an extensive search operation. Entry to the premises was restricted while the search continued.
Earlier in the day, Sambalpur court received a similar bomb threat email, triggering a high alert. Authorities deployed anti-bomb squads and reinforced security across the court complex. In both locations, no explosive materials were found during the initial inspection.
Police have begun an investigation to trace the source of the threats and determine whether the incidents are connected. Officials stated that all necessary precautionary measures are in place and urged citizens to remain calm.
The DGP office issued an advisory confirming that multiple courts in Odisha have received anonymous email threats.
“The police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated a thorough investigation. Enhanced security arrangements have been put in place at all affected locations. The situation remains under close monitoring,” the statement read.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also contacted senior officials, including the DGP and Chief Secretary, and directed them to conduct a detailed probe.
