Prime Video’sStealthrives on tension—emotional, physical and psychological—placing its characters in extreme situations where trust becomes a matter of survival. Led by Sophie Turner and co-starring Archie Madekwe, the film explores high-stakes relationships forged under pressure.
In an exclusive conversation withIndia Today, Turner spoke about her attraction to emotionally demanding roles. Known globally for her performance as Sansa Stark inGame of Thrones, the actor said it is the challenge of intense material that continues to draw her in. “I’m only really attracted to projects where I feel like I’m going to be in some sort of catatonic state for a lot of the movie or show,” she said, adding that pushing herself creatively is essential. “I always want to challenge myself and do something that’s stretching me, moulding me, shaping me in a different way.”
Steal, she explained, fits perfectly into that mindset. “I like high stakes,” Turner said with a laugh. “I don’t want to be in boring movies.”
Archie Madekwe, who plays Turner’s closest ally in the film, said their on-screen chemistry was rooted in a genuine off-screen friendship. “Acting is just reacting,” he noted. “You’re responding to what your co-star is giving you. We were very lucky—there was real chemistry and warmth off set, which made everything feel natural.”
That connection, Madekwe added, helps balance the film’s intensity. WhileStealleans heavily into anxiety and pressure, the scenes between the two leads provide moments of emotional relief. “There’s a freedom and playfulness between us that brings levity to an otherwise heavy story,” he said.
For Turner, one of the biggest takeaways from the project was discovering her own endurance. “We shot for five months, and it was physically and emotionally demanding,” she shared. “I didn’t think I could do a shoot that long. You surprise yourself and realise you have stamina you didn’t know you had.”
The conversation ended on a lighter note when the actors spoke about India. Turner, who previously visited the country for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding, expressed her eagerness to return. “Oh my God, I’d love to come back,” she said. Madekwe revealed he has never visited India but is keen to do so. Turner quickly stepped into guide mode, recommending SS Rajamouli’sRRRas essential viewing ahead of the trip.
